Elias Khoury comes to Housing Works Bookstore

Please join us at Housing Works Bookstore on Thursday, March 10th, as celebrated Lebanese writer and public intellectual Elias Khoury presents his latest novel Broken Mirrors: Sinalcol, in conversation with writer, critic, and editor Eric Banks!

ELIAS KHOURY, born in Beirut, is the author of thirteen novels, four volumes of literary criticism, and three plays. He was awarded the Palestine Prize for Gate of the Sun, which was named Best Book of the Year by Le Monde DiplomatiqueThe Christian Science Monitor, and The San Francisco Chronicle, and a Notable Book by The New York Times. Khoury is the editor of theJournal of Palestinian Studies. He is a public intellectual who plays a major role in contemporary Arabic culture and in the defense of the freedom of expression and democracy.

 ERIC BANKS is a writer and editor based in New York. A former senior editor of Artforum, Banks relaunched Bookforum in 2003 and served as the publication’s editor in chief until 2008. From 2011 to 2013, Banks served as president of the National Book Critics Circle and is a two-term member of the NBCC board of directors as well as chair or past chair of its award committees on Biography and Criticism.
