Internships

We are no longer accepting applications for our Fall 2024 internship.ย

We are seeking interns with experience and interest in literature, cultural studies, and publishing. Foreign language skills are a plus, and we are looking for applicants interested in all aspects of not-for-profit publishing, including editorial, marketing, publicity, grant writing, copy-editing, and sales. We offer a hands-on experience in a friendly and supportive environment. Interns will receive minimum wage ($15 per hour) and work part-time, two to three days per week. Our interns work in person at our Brooklyn office.ย

Because of the small size of our staff, our interns assist in most aspects of the daily running of our operation, and will be prepared for entry-level positions in publishing, literary non-profits, and other cultural institutions. Intern tasks include:ย

  • Writing and designing newsletters, book event announcements, reading group guides, jacket copy, press releases
  • Updating the Archipelago and Elsewhere websites
  • Researching donor and grant prospects
  • Reading and reporting on submissions, & researching authors and translators
  • Coordinating mailings (galleys, press releases, catalogs, subscribers, etc.)
  • Outreach to professors, booksellers, librarians, reading groups, prison book programs, authors
  • Social media outreach and publicity

…and more!

If you are interested in our internship program, please send a cover letter and resume to Emma Raddatz and Sarah Gale. They can be reached at: emma @ archipelagobooks dot org / sarah @ archipelagobooks dot org.

All qualified applicants will be considered regardless of age, race, color, religion, national origin, physical or mental disability, gender, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity and/or expression.
