Join us to launch Cedric Nunn’s Unsettled: The 100 Years War of Resistance by Xhosa Against Boer and British, and hear an artist’s talk by the photographer.
Presented with David Krut Projects. Nunn, who is best known for his photographs taken during apartheid, aims to instigate social change and highlight lesser seen aspects of society with his photography. Made up of sixty-one silver-toned, hand printed photographs, Unsettled deals with the nine wars that Xhosa people were subjected to between 1779 and 1879 in their fight against Afrikaner and British colonial settler forces.

Cedric Nunn was born in South Africa in 1957 and went on to be one of the primary documenters of the resistance to Apartheid rule. With a few colleagues, he founded a new photography movement dubbed Afrapix and later captured South Africa’s first democratic elections in 1994 on camera for the Independent Electoral Commission. He currently teaches and mentors photography students and is a board member of the Bensusan Museum of Photography in Johannesburg.
