Andrea Rosenberg with Nicole Rudick

October 27, 2020 @ 9:00 pm

On October 27th at 9:00pm EST, Andrea Rosenberg joins Nicole Rudick at Elliott Bay Book Company to discuss her translation of Tomás González’ novel Difficult Light. This event is free and will take place on zoom. You can register here.

From one of Colombia’s greatest contemporary novelists, Difficult Light is a formally daring meditation on grief, written in candid, arresting prose. “González’s last two novels, Difficult Light and The Storm were both hailed as quiet masterpieces at the time of their publication in Colombia.” — Juan Gabriel Vásquez, The Guardian.

Andrea Rosenberg is a translator from Spanish and Portuguese. Her full-length translations include novels and graphic narrative by Manuel Vilas, Tomás González, Inês Pedrosa, Aura Xilonen, Paco Roca, and Marcelo D’Salete. Two of her translations have won Eisner Awards, and she has been the recipient of awards and grants from the Fulbright Program, the American Literary Translators Association, and the Banff International Literary Translation Centre.

Nicole Rudick is a critic and an editor. She has written widely on art, literature, and comics for the New York Review of Books, the New York Times, The New Yorker, Artforum, and the Poetry Foundation. She was managing editor of The Paris Review for nearly a decade.
