Phillippe Fix

Phillippe Fix
Philippe Fix has been writing and illustrating books for over fifty years. He was born in 1937 in the town of Grendlbruch, in the province of Alsace Lorraine. Fix perfected his craft at the École supérieure des arts décoratifs in Strasbourg and the École de Beaux-Arts in Paris. It was however during his years at the military service, working in the cinematography department, where he would spend his days imagining a little man with a big head and hair covering his eyes, eventually creating the ingenious character of ChouCou. In 1963, ChouChou’s adventures were published as part of the magazine Salut les Copains and turned into the beloved comic-book figure that would spark the imagination of an entire generation of French readers. In 1967, Fix also published three books on Séraphin, whose satirical spirit and Parisian reveries granted him the Bologna Prize for Best Children’s Book. His stories have been published in more than fifteen languages, including Norwegian, Italian, Finish and Japanese.
