Ellen Elias-Bursać & Jim Hicks at Brookline Booksmith

On Friday, November 6th, at 7pm, Ellen Elias-Bursać will join Jim Hicks at Brookline Booksmith to discuss Miljenko Jergović’s Inshallah, Madonna, Inshallah, co-translated by Elias-Bursać and Mirza Purić. In the nineteen stories that comprise Inshallah, Jergovic weaves a collective ethnography that both critiques the imperial domination that has marked the Balkan region for centuries, and to display, carefully and tenderly, the lives of individuals, Christian and Muslim.

This event is part of the Transnational Literature Series, readings that focus on stories of migration and the intersecting threads of politics and literature. There will be a signing after the reading. RSVP for free here.
