Memberships are paid either monthly or annually and renew automatically each month or year, respectively.
All members receive:
- Copies of each new Archipelago title before they hit bookstores
- 25% discount at the Archipelago bookstore
Constellation members also receive:
- One backlist title from our catalog of more than 240 books, paired with each new book. We can curate this list for you, or you can let us know which books in particular speak to you.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many books can I expect?
Throughout a calendar year, members can expect to receive between 12 and 14 new titles. Our constellation members will receive between 24 and 48 books total, with one backlist (previously published) book paired to each new title they receive.
We publish the majority of our books in the Fall and Spring, with fewer titles coming out between May and September. If you feel like you’re waiting longer for books during those months, please bear with us! Our membership mailings are not on a strict one-book-per-calendar-month schedule.
How do I manage my membership after joining?
Once you sign up, you can manage your membership through your customer account. If you have any questions, concerns or updates regarding your membership (changing your shipping address or, if you’re a constellation member, requesting specific backlist titles, etc.) please don’t hesitate to reach out to our memberships coordinator, Jillian Kravattz at: [email protected]
Can I pick my own backlist books as a constellation member?
Yes! Notify us of books you’d like to receive by filling out the comments field of your initial memberships order, or simply email your selections any time after placing your order to Jillian at: [email protected].
I already own many Archipelago titles. How do I avoid duplicates if I want to join as a constellation member?
Let us know what Archipelago titles you already have in the comments section of your initial order, or email a list of your library to Jillian at: [email protected]
Do you offer international memberships?
Yes! It costs us between $40 – 120 USD per package to send books abroad. We subsidize as much of these shipping fees as we can, but we do add an international shipping of an additional $25 per month—or $180 per year, if you choose to pay annually—to the regular membership fees. The exact amount of these shipping fees get adjusted on our website based on your address, so you can plug in your shipping address and see how the cart changes for you.
I want to join for one year without my membership automatically renewing. What should I do?
Our islet and constellation memberships automatically renew, but the gift memberships expire one year from the initial purchase date. If you’d prefer to make a one-time payment and subscribe for a single year alone, you can do that by purchasing a gift membership for yourself.
How do I support you in a sustained way without receiving each title in the mail?
If you’re just looking for a way to support the press on an ongoing basis but don’t wish to receive any books in the mail, please consider setting up a recurring monthly donation on our support page. If it’s just a matter of dwindling shelf space, consider joining us as a digital member!
