DESCRIPTION:  \nCalling all Toronto friends! On November 6th\, Paul Eprile\, translator of Jean Giono’s forthcoming Fragments of a Paradise\, will join Catherine Bush for a conversation and reading at TYPE Junction. There will be a signing to follow this event. \n  \nPaul Eprile lives on the Niagara Escarpment in Ontario\, Canada. HIs previous translations include three novels by Jean Giono (Hill; Melville; and The Open Road) and two by Colette (Chéri and The End of Chéri). Melville was awarded the French-American Foundation Translation Prize in 2018. Eprile’s rendition of Stendhal’s Armance is forthcoming from NYRB. \nCatherine Bush is the author of five novels\, including Blaze Island (2020)\, and the forthcoming story collection\, Skin (2025). She has been a 2024 Landhaus Fellow at the Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society in Germany and teaches at the University of Guelph.

This event will include a reading\, Q&A\, and signing. \nKalpana Raina was born in Kashmir and lives in New York. She is a senior executive with extensive financial\, management and advisory experience internationally. Raina is currently the Vice Chair at Words Without Borders\, a premier online journal of translations. Her collaborative translation project of stories from the Kashmiri language\, For Now\, It Is Night\, is her first work of translation. \nSanna Wani is the author of My Grief\, the Sun (House of Anansi\, 2022). Her work has been featured in Best Canadian Poetry 2020\, CBC\, The Puritan\, TIME among other places. She is the guest editor for Canthius Issue 10 and the 2023 Artist-in-Residence with The Seventh Wave Magazine. \n
