SUMMARY:Film screening & conversation between Fine Gråbøl & Katie Kitamura
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to be partnering with Roxy Cinema for a screening of Jane Campion’s An Angel at My Table\, based on a book of the same name by Janet Frame. Following the screening will be a conversation about the film and Fine’s What Kingdom between Fine Gråbøl and Katie Kitamura. Join us for an insightful\, interdisciplinary afternoon! \nFine Gråbøl (b. 1992) has previously published a collection of poetry\, Knoglemarv lavendel (Bone-marrow Lavender\, 2018)\, together with the poetry collective BMS – consisting of Dorte Limkilde\, Mette Kierstein\, Ronja Johansen\, and Gråbøl. Although What Kingdom is based on personal experience\, Gråbøl does not consider it “auto-fiction.” \nKatie Kitamura’s most recent novel is Intimacies. One of The New York Times’ 10 Best Books of 2021\, it was longlisted for the National Book Award and the PEN/Faulkner Award\, and was a finalist for the Joyce Carol Oates Prize. It was also one of Barack Obama’s favorite books of 2021. Her third novel\, A Separation\, was a finalist for the Premio von Rezzori and a New York Times Notable Book. She is also the author of Gone To The Forest and The Longshot\, both finalists for the New York Public Library’s Young Lions Fiction Award. She teaches in the creative writing program at New York University.
