SUMMARY:An evening with Patrizio Ceccagnoli & Megan Kaminski
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Raven Book Store on April 28th for an evening with Patrizio Ceccagnoli\, co-translator of Milo De Angelis’ Last Stops of the Night Journey\, and poet Megan Kaminski. The two will honor and read from De Angelis’ glimmering collection that speaks to his experiences teaching poetry at a prison outside Milan. We so hope you can make it. \n“Here are a series of recollections that approach each memory and experience with a philosophical flair that is monumental in its emotional conveyance. There’s a sepia-toned quality to De Angelis’ poetry (beautifully translated here by Ceccagnoli and Stewart) that is both artistically mindful but also timeless: interactions and dialogues with old friends\, reflections on past experiences and ruminations on mortality\, transience and beauty all take center stage and impress upon the reader an almost allegorical approach\, as if there is a lesson to be learned by interacting with each poem. Spellbinding and funereal\, this book has the unique ability to make you feel its loneliness\, but also somehow enjoy it at the same time.” —Trevor Ruth\, Changing Hands\, Tempe\, Arizona
