SUMMARY:Celebrate Edgardo Cozarinsky's Milongas at the Hungarian House with tango and live music by La Guardia Imperial!
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nWe’d love for you to join us on Sunday\, December 5 at the Hungarian House for tango with live music to celebrate the release of Edgardo Cozarinsky’s Milongas! Translated from the Spanish by Valerie Miles\, the book is a rich exploration of the history and kaleidoscopic world of tango. \nJoin us for empanadas and vino\, live music by La Guardia Imperial\, and dancing into the night! The evening will begin at 6:30pm with a beginner tango class led by Walter Perez and an intermediate tango class led by Florencia Borgnia & Marcos Pereira\, followed by a DJ set by Rainier Pereira at 8pm and live music by La Guardia Imperial at 9 and 10pm. Tango dancers Florencia Borgnia & Marcos Pereira will perform at 9:30pm. The event will be accompanied by Argentine delicacies and nibbles by Argentine chef Ema Perello. \nCopies of Milongas will be available for purchase. \nThe cover for this event is $25. You can RSVP to reserve a table here. Please feel free to join us at any point in the night! \nIn his playful\, conspiratorial voice\, Cozarinsky moves us through the rich and varied culture of tango\, circling the globe to hidden milongas tucked away in the crypt of a London Church\, a café in Krakow\, the quays of the Seine\, to the Red Square of Moscow. At neighborhood dance halls alive in the early hours of the morning\, where young and old\, foreign and native\, novice and master come together in a tradition that traverses borders\, demographics\, and social mores\, “it is impossible to distinguish the dance from the dancer.” As erudite as he is candid\, Cozarinsky shares the culture of this timeless dance with us through glimmering anecdotes to celebrate its traditions\, evolution\, and the devotees who give it life. \nBorn in Argentina\, Edgardo Cozarinsky is the author of numerous novels\, including La ausencia de guerra (2015)\, Dinero para fantasmas (2012)\, and Lejos de donde (2009)\, which was awarded the prize for the Academia Argentina de Letras. Cozarinsky is also well known as a screenwriter and director\, whose films blur the boundaries between fiction and documentary. He resides in Buenos Aires and in Paris. \nThe Hungarian House is located at 213 E 82nd St in Manhattan. For more information and to RSVP\, you can follow the link here. We look forward to seeing you there!
