DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, April 25th at Molasses Books in Brooklyn\, Jacob Rogers will read from his translation of The Last Days of Terranova by Manuel Rivas and speak with translator\, writer\, and editor Samuel Rutter\, as part of the Sant Jordi festival (a traditional Catalan celebration with books\, roses\, wine and more roses). The event will begin a little after 7:30\, and Molasses is open till midnight for post-reading toasts & bites. \nJACOB ROGERS is a translator of Galician prose and poetry. His work has appeared in Asymptote\, Best European Fiction 2019\, PRISM International\, Cagibi\, Your Impossible Voice\, Nashville Review\, The Brooklyn Rail\, InTranslation\, and the Portico of Galician Literature\, with work forthcoming in Lunch Ticket\, Copper Nickel\, and ANMLY. His translation of Carlos Casares’s novel\, His Excellency\, came out from Small Stations Press in 2017. \nSAMUEL RUTTER is a writer and translator from Melbourne\, Australia. He has translated several novels from the Spanish\, include Cristina Sánchez-Andrade’s The Winterlings\, published by Restless Books in 2016. He has written for Harper’s\, The White Review\, The Paris Review Daily and T Magazine.

DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to invite you to a reading and discussion by brilliant translators Karen Emmerich\, Mark Polizzotti\, and Jacob Rogers. This event is a part of Another Way to Say reading series\, dedicated to translations\, multilingual writing and polyglot experience. All three translators will read excerpts from the titles they have translated for Archipelago Books from Greek\, French\, and Galician respectively. This in-person reading will take place at Molasses Bookshop on December 9th\, 8pm EST. \n \n  \nKaren Emmerich‘s translations from the Greek include books by Margarita Karapanou\, Amanda Michalopoulou\, Sophia Nikolaidou\, Ersi Sotiropoulos\, and Vassilis Vassilikos. Her translation of Miltos Sachtouris for Archipelago was nominated for a National Book Critics Circle Award in Poetry and her translation of Yannis Ritsos’s Diaries of Exile with Edmund Keeley won the 2014 PEN Literary Award. She teaches at Princeton University. \n  \n  \n \n  \nMark Polizzotti‘s books include Revolution of the Mind: The Life of André Breton\, monographs on Luis Buñuel and Bob Dylan\, and Sympathy for the Traitor: A Translation Manifesto. A Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and recipient of an American Academy of Arts & Letters Award for Literature\, he has translated more than fifty books\, including works by Arthur Rimbaud\, Gustave Flaubert\, Patrick Modiano\, and Marguerite Duras. \n  \n  \n  \n \nJacob Rogers is a translator of Galician prose and poetry.
