Trained as both a lawyer and an artist, York Chang makes conceptually driven work which considers how collective action is influenced by ambiguity, disorientation, and narrative constructs. He employs strategies of collage, décollage, and redaction as interventions into information systems, often appropriating microfiche records, books, archives, documentary films, and newspapers for use in his projects. Chang is based in Los Angeles, and has had solo and group exhibitions at national and international institutions, galleries, and fairs, including the Orange County Museum of Art, Vincent Price Art Museum, MassMOCA, Edel Assanti (London), Greene Exhibitions, Commonwealth and Council, NADA, and EXPO Chicago.
