Reprinting a vast Croatian family epic

Category:

We are seeking funds to reprint Miljenko Jergovíc’s Kin. Published in 2020 in a translation by Russel Scott Valentino, Kin is “Miljenko Jergović’s time-traveling, place-hopping epic” according to Matt Janney in the Calvert Journal. Janney goes on: “is at once a history of family and an ode to Yugoslavia. Spanning the entire 20th century, Kin traces the layers of the region’s past from the two World Wars through to the turmoil of the 90s. Taking the dusty objects of his family’s past and his own pockmarked memories as the subjects of his inquiry, the book is as much a comment on memory’s elusive surface as it is a social history of the region.”

We are delighted the book has found and moved so many readers. We are seeking funds to keep this sprawling, shimmering work by one of Croatia’s literary stars in print for readers of English.
