Selected Shorts: An Evening with Karl Ove Knausgaard and Hari Kunzru

Symphony Space presents: Selected Shorts – An evening with Karl Ove Knausgaard! Knausgaard will introduce readings by acclaimed actors of stories he admires, and read an excerpt from My Struggle: Book Four. Karl Ove Knausgaard was born in Norway in 1968. His debut novel Out of This World won the Norwegian Critics Prize and  A Time for Everything was a finalist for the Nordic Council Prize. My Struggle: Book One was a New Yorker Book of the Year and Book Two was listed among the Wall Street Journal’s 2013 Books of the Year. In 2014, Book Three was named a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. My Struggle is a New York Times Best Seller and has been translated into more than fifteen languages. Knausgaard lives in Sweden with his wife and four children.

 

Hari Kunzru is the author of the novels The Impressionist, Transmission, My Revolutions, and Gods Without Men, as well as a the novella Memory Palace and a short story collection, Noise. His work has been translated into twenty-one languages and won him prizes including the Somerset Maugham award, the Betty Trask prize of the Society of Authors and a British Book Award. His short stories and journalism have appeared in diverse publications including The New York Times, Guardian, New Yorker, Washington Post, Times of India, Wired and New Statesman. He lives in New York City.

 

Selected Shorts was conceived with a simple premise: take great stories by well-known and emerging writers and have them performed by terrific actors of stage and screen. Featuring stories around a lively theme, the favorite works of a guest author, or a special collaboration, each Selected Shorts event is a unique night of literature in performance. Live shows at Symphony Space are hosted by Matthew Love.
