Karl Ove Knausgaard was born in Norway in 1968. His debut novel Out of This World won the Norwegian Critics Prize in 2004 and his A Time for Everything was a finalist for the Nordic Council Prize. For My Struggle: Book One, Knausgaard received the Brage Award in 2009, the 2010 Book of the Year Prize in Morgenbladet, and the P2 Listeners’ Prize. My Struggle: Book One was a New Yorker Book of the Year, Book Two was listed among the Wall Street Journal‘s 2013 Books of the Year, and in 2014, Book Three was named a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. My Struggle has been translated into more than fifteen languages. Knausgaard lives in Sweden with his wife and four children.

Rivka Galchen’s award-winning works of fiction are Atmospheric Disturbances and American Innovations. Her “inventive narrative strategies call to mind the playful techniques of Jonathan Lethem, Franz Kafka, Primo Levi and Thomas Pynchon,” wrote The New York Times. “But she also, quite deliberately, echoes the Argentine giant Jorge Luis Borges. Like Borges, she sabotages concepts of identity, reality and place.”
